We went to Djerba with a water problem. We came back with seven countries.
From 5 to 9 October 2026, CSM / ICYE Morocco joined 25 youth organisations from Europe and the Mediterranean at the SALTO EuroMed Green Partnership Building Activity in Tunisia.

Morocco is living through a multi-year drought.
Every organisation came to Djerba with one environmental challenge written on a flipchart. Ours was water.
Our community gardens teach brilliantly — and drink far too much. We came looking for partners who could help us learn drip irrigation, water reuse, mulching and drought-tolerant native planting, and who can host and send the volunteers to put it into practice.
By the end of the week our sheet was covered in sticky notes from other organisations saying the same thing: we want in.

Five days of mapping challenges and matching partners.

Eight organisations. Seven countries. One project.
CSM left Djerba as part of a working partnership, with a first joint project planned for the beginning of 2027.
Water scarcity, drought-resilient community gardens
Plastic waste and pollution
Waste reduction and recycling
Desertification, reforestation, permaculture
Art and nature, upcycling
Waste management, cultural exchange
Sustainable farming, gardening and living
Green spaces, reducing waste
A green strand in our volunteering programme.
The first joint project starts in early 2027. It will bring volunteers into water-smart gardening, waste reduction and environmental education across the partner countries — and bring those skills home to our projects in Rabat, Salé, Casablanca, Tetouan and Chefchaouen.
Since 1963, CSM has believed that volunteering is how young people learn to take care of their communities. The climate is simply the next thing that needs caring for.
